Differences

There is no difference between writing a story, designing a building, and creating for the web. In the end, if you have vision, you’re just guiding people.

On Patience

Patience is a total bear to learn but it ends with what it should begin with: having patience with yourself in learning it.

In other words: Slow Lifestyle achieved.

Welcome to The Quiet

I lost my iPod this weekend. Being a responsible technology owner, I opted to take my shuffle out of my car so as to deter thievery. Unfortunately, the clutch I carried did not clutch the device.

There was a quiet in the car when I realized it was really gone. Everyone felt bad for me. “That sucks,” they all agreed.

I took a deep breath, lamented the $50 loss, and announced, “It’s ok.” You see, earlier that day, I was considering putting it away for good. It’s more trouble than it’s worth. Continue reading

Egypt, Denial and The Twitters

Egypt is kind of nuts right now. Its people are reacting. The world is reacting. Anyone abreast of world news can see that. The Egyptian government decided that, since they can’t control their people, they will cut off their avenues of communication.

Right…

If this feels familiar, that’s because it is. We all did it when we were little kids:

Late at night, when we heard a funny noise, we’d cover our heads with our blankets and hope it would all go away. By limiting our view, we felt safer and more in control.

With the blankets over our eyes, we became instantly more vulnerable. We could not see what was in front of us, all around us or possibly about to swallow us whole. It did not stop the Boogey Man. It only made him scarier.

The world is changing, as they say. Technology is democratizing customer choice to where big business can no longer hide. And government? Well, their citizens are their customers, whether they acknowledge it or not.

Can we please pull the wool before any more time is wasted or any more blood is shed?

Masks

I’ve been too timid to unleash the real me on this blog. This past week, two acquaintances made clear to me that there is no reason to fear it. I think some people might even like it. Here goes nothing.

I got a job!

I got the offer letter today in the mail. It was better than holding a wad of cash.

It is such an exciting prospect: Getting to do what I love for a group of people who are clearly grounded, hard-working and close-knit.

Also, it means being a productive member of society!
