Building a 40 Before 40 List

Hey all! After a few years of making human beings and building a career, I’m working on my “40 before 40” and figured it would be a good thing to post about.

With dream man in tow to keep me accountable, and a few more years of goal-setting (and achieving) under my belt, I am optimistic that I will check everything off my list! It’s still under construction but it’s most of the way there.

For frame of reference, check out my 30 before 30 post. For anyone trying to do the math, I turned 30 roughly two kids ago.

40 Before 40

  1. Complete my masters degree
  2. Become debt-free
  3. Learn to play the piano
  4. Visit Nottingham
  5. Road trip through the U.S. with my family
  6. Publish a novel
  7. Visit a distillery… in Scotland
  8. Visit a winery
  9. Go on a real honeymoon
  10. Buy a vacation home
  11. Join a tennis league
  12. Move up in my career (specifics intentionally withheld)
  13. Volunteer with a domestic violence victim support organization
  14. Remodel kitchen
  15. Landscape our front- and backyard
  16. Volunteer on a City Board
  17. Get good enough at WordPress to make this site something fun and special
  18. Watch a movie in LA Cemetary
  19. Begin teaching
  20. Devise and pursue a significant research project
  21. Become published as a subject matter expert in my field
  22. Become a mentor
  23. Go fishing
  24. Beat Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  25. Visit New York City
  26. Go on a cruise
  27. Go snorkeling
  28. Go kayaking
  29. Visit Sweden & Denmark
  30. Visit Hawaii
  31. Visit Australia or New Zealand
  32. Visit Japan
  33. Potty train my last kid
  34. Read my favorite YA books with my girls as they age up to them
  35. Make fitness a serious priority again
  36. Get braces
  37. Get my nose pierced
  38. Get a tattoo representing each of my kids
  39. Learn to ride a bike
  40. Have an entire week where I don’t have to run any errands.

Social Media Content Calendar Templates

Hi all! It’s been a long time since I posted but today I had a chat (online of course) with some peers who were looking for some good templates to help plan their social media content, including blog content, Facebook, Twitter and the whole menagerie.

You can easily find a few free online courtesy of great firms and industry leaders like Vertical Measures and Hubspot. With that said, I’m the type of stubborn person who has to find the exact right way to do it for me so that it fits my weird little brain. My brain requires flexibility, and being able to find information easily after the fact since I forget it almost instantly.

Slow On Purpose

A few years ago, I had a big win in my personal health after a long slog of feeling lousy. With it came an abundance of mental and physical energy. I got really busy then, meeting new people, learning new things, and growing my professional network. After two years, I burned out and had no idea why.
